What categories are for

Categories classify whole pages inside an organization. They help you organize larger sites into collections such as Landing Pages, Product Pages, SEO Pages, Blog, Campaigns, or Restaurant Pages.

Categories do not change how a page renders. They describe the page so humans, filters, and integrations can understand where it belongs.

Identifiers

Each category has a human-readable name and a stable identifier. The identifier is the machine-friendly value integrations can use when mapping StaticPagesApi categories into another platform.

• Use clear identifiers such as landing-pages, product-pages, or restaurant-pages.
• Keep identifiers stable after integrations depend on them.
• Names can be more readable for people; identifiers are better for automation.

Page editing

On the page edit form, categories can be searched and created inline because they classify only that page and do not inject shared rendered content.

• A page can belong to many categories.
• Removing a category from a page removes that classification only.
• Use categories when you need organization, filtering, or export metadata.

Webhook and WordPress behavior

Categories are included in webhook deliveries as metadata. WordPress receivers can map them directly into WordPress page categories when the plugin is configured for WordPress page storage.

• StaticPagesApi sends categories in the X-Static-Pages-Api-Categories header.
• The WordPress plugin can create or reuse matching WordPress page categories.
• An empty category header can clear page categories in the WordPress receiver.
